Amarcon develops
Cutter Dredger Simulator for Jan de Nul N.V.

In November 2003, Amarcon was awarded the contract to develop a new Cutter Dredger Simulator for the Belgian company Jan de Nul N.V. Jan de Nul’s fleet includes two of the world’s biggest cutter suction dredgers. Soon also the world’s biggest rock cutter dredger "J.F.J. de Nul" will be ready for operation.
After a period of development in close cooperation with the University of Gent, the new state-of-the-art Cutter Dredger Simulator was completed in June 2004. Main features of the new Cutter Dredger simulator are its ability to carry out a full multi-body simulation in which the vessel can be accurately modeled including it's connections to the spud-pole, the ladder, mooring system and the seafloor. By simulating the behavior of the vessel in varying environmental conditions, the design can be optimized. The advanced visualization possibilities give detailed insight in the vessel and body motions.

The Cutter Dredger Simulator has a user-friendly user interface and has been developed with the latest software technology. Interfaces have been developed in open standards such as XML to easily integrate the simulator in the engineering environment.
