OCTOPUS-Online allows cargo- and ship-owners to be constantly informed on location and status of their property. Frequent reports are sent from the vessel to a central database server, which is accessible from the internet. Authorized users can access their own part of the protected website to retrieve the latest information.
After the voyage, the recorded data is evaluated and the impact on the cargo can be analyzed.
The database can be made accessible for all parties required. It can be used to tune motion calculation (specifically roll motion) and for various other purposes, such as fatigue analysis.
OCTOPUS-Online reports
OCTOPUS-Online is a next generation tool for providing detailed information on the ship and the sailing circumstances. OCTOPUS-Online requires no additionald software installation, only an internet connection.
Where the officer on watch used to fill out a Noon Position Report by hand and fax it to the office, he now generates a Noon Position Report on the computer. This report will automatically be sent to the office ashore, together with the by OCTOPUS-Onboard perceived responses, voyage information and system status. All this information will be available on the internet within one hour.
Benefits of OCTOPUS-Online
- Gives easy internet access to database with Noon Position Reports of all incorporated vessels.
- Allows cargo owners, vessel owners and all other people with access rights to view the actual status and the forecasted circumstances and responses of a vessel .
- Facilitates for people with extended access rights consultation of the collected history of all motions, accelerations and other data of one or more vessels. This allows fleet owners to perform documented fatigue analysis and lifetime monitoring for their entire fleet. By combining this data per vessel with fuel consumption data, efficiency and maintenance analysis becomes possible, to help achieve new fuel consumption reduction challenges.
