Samsung Heavy Industries selects OCTOPUS Monitoring and Routing system (December 2006)
Amarcon is proud to announce that it received the order to supply
Samsung Heavy Industries with the OCTOPUS-ONBOARD Monitoring and Routing system for Höegh LNG's new SRV's (LNG Shuttle and Regas Vessel).
Höegh LNG and Suez LNG North America have designed the deep water port (DWP) Neptune Project for the delivery and regasification of LNG 10 miles off the coast of Massachusetts to meet New England?s growing demand for natural gas, using SRV-technology that is safe, reliable, and environmentally sound.
Neptune consists of 3 SRV's, an offshore terminal with 2 buoys, and associated pipelines to shore. In order to meet the project start-up of 2009 4th Q, Höegh and its partner MOL placed an order for 2+1 SRV's at Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea in April 2006. These vessels are the most advanced of its kind, and will be able to meet the most stringent environmental conditions in the world. Amarcon's modular OCTOPUS-ONBOARD system fitted in this challenging concept because of its proven concept of integrated wave and motion monitoring and forecasting.
With this order OCTOPUS-ONBOARD systems are now applied onboard container vessels, heavy lift and transport vessels, pipe laying vessels, crane vessels, roro vessels, and LNG SRV's.
Dockwise convinced by Octopus in real life (December 2006)
Market leader in the offshore heavy transport business Dockwise Shipping BV has awarded Amarcon the contract to install OCTOPUS onboard the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel TransShelf as a permanent installation. Dockwise has been involved for some years already in different projects focused on onboard guidance and decision support systems. Dockwise has been using OCTOPUS during a trial period of half a year.
The very positive feed back of the crew and office personnel regarding functionality, reliability and accuracy convinced the Dockwise experts that OCTOPUS-ONBOARD really assist the crew and office to optimize the safety and economy of heavy transport shipping. On its next stop in Europe, OCTOPUS-ONBOARD will be extended with motion sensors.
Therefore, Amarcon is proud to announce that OCTOPUS was selected.

Dockwise Shipping BV orders OCTOPUS for Transshelf July 2006
Dockwise Shipping BV is headquartered in Breda, the Netherlands and operates a fleet of 15 semi-submersible heavy transport vessels at the top end of the market.
AMARCON has been contracted to deliver a turn-key OCTOPUS system for a transport project with the Transshelf. The Transshelf is a semi-submersible heavy transport carrier of a design which shows strong resemblance to the Servant class vessels. The vessel combines advantages found in both Super and Mighty Servant class carriers.
OCTOPUS will use the ship response characteristics as calculated by Dockwise particular for this transport. In combination with SPOS-data response based routing will be one of the functionalities. Motion sensors can be connected at any time without updating the software.
AMARCON will install OCTOPUS on a pc and the complete system will be transported to the Transshelf and connected to its network.
