New OCTOPUS-Office* users

Berkeley, the well known University of California and the University of São Paulo in Brazil recently chose OCTOPUS-Office for their Master programs. 

Italian offshore giant ENI-Saipem purchased OCTOPUS-Office for her engineering department and so did the Dutch Saltwater Engineering. *OCTOPUS-Office is the hydrodynamic analysis program for sea-keeping analyses including extensive post-processing and reporting functionalities.

Expected: 3D-diffraction solver Delfrac integrated in OCTOPUS-Office

Delfrac, the 3D-diffraction program, developed by Prof. Jo Pinkster, will be integrated in OCTOPUS-Office. The first-phase integration is expected to be available early 2010.

Dec 2009 - First implementation of new portable OCTOPUS-Onboard

Rolldock Shipping BV leases the all new OCTOPUS-Onboard Surveyor box on behalf of BP/SBM Offshore for the Skarv Project. This new portable OCTOPUS system has been installed onboard the Yuan Jing, a heavy lift transport carrier that is owned by Cosco. The system has been configured for the purpose of motion monitoring, response prediction, route evaluation and heavy-weather decision support. All data will be available at OCTOPUS-Online. The OCTOPUS-Onboard Surveyor box is an easy to connect portable standalone system. It has its own GPS, Satellite communication and UPS. Amarcon can provide immediate support by logging in to, monitoring and controlling OCTOPUS-Surveyor from the office.

Biglift Happy-S and Happy-D vessels get OCTOPUS-Onboard (July 2009)

The Dutch heavy lift and project cargo shipping company Biglift Shipping ordered OCTOPUS-Onboard systems for her Happy-S and Happy-D class newbuild vessels. The order includes OCTOPUS-TMS3 for motion monitoring, OCTOPUS-Onboard for decisison support and OCTOPUS-Online for shore-based project monitoring.

Dutch Navy vessel gets OCTOPUS-Onboard (Sept 2009)

The Royal Dutch Navy ordered the development of a new OCTOPUS-Onboard feature that provides the crew with a time-window for save landing. The system scans approaching waves using the Seadarq Wave Radar and calculates the maximum short-term ship motions. The result will be a decision support program for helicopters landing on deck and ribs approaching the Landing Platform Dock in all kinds of waves. The first installation has bees been done onboard the "Luymes".

Tenth permanent installation of OCTOPUS on Dockwise vessel. (August 2009)

Dockwise Shipping B.V. continues installation of OCTOPUS-Onboard on the heavy transport carriers Blue Marlin, Tern, Swan and Triumph. Motion monitoring is part of the AMARCON supply, OCTOPUS-Onboard is configured for immediate and mid-term decision support by using weather forecast, a ship response prediction model and a motion measurement system. This makes a total of 10 OCTOPUS-Onboard installations on vessels of the Dockwise fleet! 

OCTOPUS-Online can be used to get insight in the current location and status of the vessel and it?s cargo.

New orders OCTOPUS-Office 6. (May 2009)

Amongst the new OCTOPUS-Office 6 users are the Dutch companies Bluewater Energy Services, Nordic Heavylift and Vuyk Engineering, the German operator SAL Shipping, and the Belgian Ghent University. OCTOPUS-Office is a hydrodynamic analysis program for the calculation of seakeeping characteristics for ships and other floating structures, with or without forward speed. It is used to calculate voyage-specific design accelerations based on historical weather. OCTOPUS-Office can also be used to define the response criteria for OCTOPUS- Onboard.

Heerema Marine Contractors orders OCTOPUS-Onboard. (April 2009)

World leader in heavy lift & crane operations Heerema Marine Contractors installs a customized OCTOPUS-Onboard system on the semi-submersible pipelay vessel Balder. Onboard decision support will be given to minimize fatigue damage in the J-Lay Tower during transit. 

This new order again demonstrates how OCTOPUS-ONBOARD fits in the philosophy of world's leading ship operators with focus on quality, safety and economy of shipping.

OCTOPUS-Online Extended with google maps. (March, 2009)

OCTOPUS-Online allows cargo and vessel owners to be informed about the current status and performance of their vessels, the forecasted vessel responses and the route plan, ETA and fuel consumption ? real-time on the internet! OCTOPUS-Online uses Google Maps for even more accurate viewing of routes and locations.
