Bridging the gap between research and maritime operations

Next week, one of the world's largest shipping exhibitions and conferences will be held in Oslo, Norway. It is therefore time to give you an update on the latest developments of the OCTOPUS software, which will be demonstrated in the boots of different companies at the exhibition.

After a long period of strong focus on structural and safety issues from the operator's point of view, OCTOPUS has now been extended with a comfort module to give guidance on minimization of the risk of motion sickness as well. This new release will be demonstrated at the exhibition (see separate Nor-Shipping-links).

Combination of Meteo Consult’s SPOS and OCTOPUS has resulted in the most advanced voyage planning tool currently available. Find out how easy it is to forecast and optimize the seakeeping performance of your ship! Twaves.behahviour onboard.

South African Navy sets sail with OCTOPUS

Other news:

First half of 2005, new OCTOPUS-systems were installed on Panamax and post-Panamax container carriers and an oil-combat vessel. Also the first new-building container vessel was equipped with OCTOPUS-SRA.

The universities of New Orleans and Trondheim started to use the seakeeping software OCTOPUS-SEAWAY campus-wide.

OCTOPUS satisfies the German SBG-requirements regarding resonance diagrams which indicate risky combinations of speed and course at given loading condition and sea state. OCTOPUS updates the diagrams fully automatically, including loading condition, speed, course and wave information.
