OCTOPUS Visualization

Amarcon offers a variety of tools to visualize results from computations or measurements. The tools can be used to get faster and better insight in the sea keeping behavior of your ship. The following visualization options are available within OCTOPUS:
  • 2D-graphs and tables
  • 3D-animations in arbitrary seas as animated GIF-files
  • Interactive 3D-animations with additional analysis options
  • Special graph formats such as 3D-polar diagrams

Animation of seakeeping analysis

With the OCTOPUS Seaway frequency domain sea keeping program it is possible to automatically export 3D animations of ship motions by combination of RAO's with a large variety of sea state definitions, such as

  • Arbitrary number of regular wave components, each defined by an amplitude, frequency, phase and direction
  • Arbitrary number of seastate components, each defined by a significnat wave height, period, main direction, spectrum shape and spreading function
  • Measured fully-directional spectra or point spectra

Interactive visualizations

Free-distributable interactive visualizations can be generated using Ceetron's GLviewPro. The requested files are generated by OCTOPUS using Seaway results and user-specified seastate definition. See for example a demonstration of a nonlinear multi-body Cutter Dredger Simulator, which Amarcon developed for the Belgian company Jan de Nul N.V.
