Intelligent and efficient alarm management aiming to support a safe level of situation
awareness for the navigator.
The Alarm Management System can automatically monitor, record and display
ship's alarm at a central location so that the crew can easily identify the alarm and
manage the condition in a timely manner.

Alarms are available on:
- screen, one of the standard displays of OCTOPUS onboard is the Alarm display
- client system, alarms can be viewed and acknowledged from any workstation running "OCTOPUS Alarms"
- mobile phone, when an alarm appears, a sms will be send to all configured mobile phones (warnings optional)
- e-mail, 1-4 times a day (configurable) a log file with all events and alarms is send to all configured e-mail addresses
|
OCTOPUS generates an alarm when:
- the ship responses are reaching critical high levels
- the ship is in a resonance zone
- a measurement value has reached his criterion
- a period of down-time is coming up (weather windows)
- a connection with a sensor fails (the loading computer, a wave radar, a weather forecast or the connection with the navigation network)
- the data gets older than allowed
A clear distinction is made between System and Response alarms.
