NAVIGATION DATA is monitored to calculate the expected ship responses in waves and the probability for resonance for the ship's active operating speed and heading. The interface with the navigation sensors is established by serial or network connections. The ship's speed and heading can also be entered into OCTOPUS if there is no connection with the navigation network or to simulate the effect of a change of speed or heading.
